Special Olympics gold medallist takes the plunge with a new career

Gordon Doherty, 42, has found a job working for Wiltshire Foods in Greenock, Scotland after being out of work for a period of time. Gordon struck gold on no fewer than eight occasions during a glittering Special Olympics career. He was supported by his work coach Laura Harkin and colleague Eileen Mcclafferty to find work at the company.

He said: “I’d like to thank my work coach and the rest of the team. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without their support.”

Gordon is working as a packer at the Kingston Industrial Estate firm, which delivers to elderly people across the west of Scotland.
